Standing Order Form

Setting up a monthly standing order to help The Spectacle Makers’ Charity is very easy.
We recommend a voluntary donation of £20 per month for Liverymen and £10 per month for Freemen but every little helps and regular donations can be as small or as large as you wish.

Gift Aid Declaration Form

Corporate donations cannot attract Gift Aid but you may be able to claim tax relief by deducting the value of your donations from your total business profits before assessment for corporation tax.

Neither the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers nor The Spectacle Makers’ Charity are authorised to give legal, tax or financial advice. You may need to seek professional help for more complex transactions.

We are enormously grateful to the Liverymen and Freeman who, over centuries, have written their names in our history by remembering the Company or one of its charities in their wills or letters of wishes. The Charity was very surprised and honoured to be named recently as a residuary legatee in the will of a Freeman. Her legacy will allow the Charity to increase its programme of giving in 2021, with a particular focus on helping those in optical education.

You will shortly be able to download an information pack on legacies and bequests. Please click back again soon!

If you are planning for the future and wish a note to be made of your intentions or if you would just like to have a discussion about how you could help, please contact the Office on 020 7236 2932 (+44 207 236 2932)  or email to arrange a time for a confidential conversation. Thank you.

The 100 Club

The 100 Club will be relaunched from January 2021. Members of the Club contribute £100 each year for one “share” in the Club. Membership is limited to Freemen, Liverymen and family members over the age of 16. All those holding a share make a commitment to pay by standing order and are entered into a draw twice a year. The “100 Club” means that only 100 shares can be issued, so there are very good odds.

The net proceeds of the 100 Club go directly to supporting the work of our Charity so joining the 100 Club is a great way to help – and have the chance to win a prize yourself, but you have to be in it to win it! Only those who have paid their subscriptions for the year can be entered for the draws.

Application forms will be available soon.

The 100 Club will be registered as a Lottery with the City of London Corporation.
The promoter is a Trustee of The Spectacle Makers’ Charity.

Payments to the 100 Club are not eligible for Gift Aid.

Liveryman David Baker donated royalties from his book “How Glasses Caught a Killer” to help our Charity.

Liverymen at Kilimanjaro

Liveryman Ian Wills and his partner Julie Zberowski raised funds by walking up Mount Kilimanjaro – and safely down again.
