Freeman

We are an open & friendly Livery Company. You do not have to be working in an optical profession to join us. Eye health professionals can apply by right; children of Freemen can apply by patrimony; all others apply by recommendation of two existing members (we can help with this).

Freeman pay an annual membership subscription. This is called quarterage for historic reasons. In the past, members met on the quarter days and paid their subscriptions then.  These days an annual payment by card, direct debit or bank transfer is much easier! There is a one-time admin fee of £20 on first admission to the Company.
