Monday, 18 May 2026, 5:45 pm - 8:00 pm

Governors’ Hall, St Thomas’ Hospital, London, United Kingdom, SE1 7EH

Information

Details

This is an invitation to come and find out more about lifelong eye health.

The Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers is committed to better vision for all. We believe that nobody should be held back by poor vision, and we want you to make the best of your eyes.

At our now-annual Eye Health for the Livery event, attendees will hear from our experts in all fields of vision care. Speakers will include:

  • Daniel Hardiman-McCartney MBE, Clinical Adviser to the College of Optometrists and regular BBC Breakfast pundit
  • Professor Chris Hammond, Frost Professor of Ophthalmology at King’s College London and Consultant Ophthalmologist at St Thomas’ Hospital
  • Vijay Tailor-Hamblin, Research Orthoptist, Moorfields Eye Hospital
  • Fiona Anderson, Dispensing Optician and the Master Spectacle Maker, 2025/26

We will discover what we can do to help ourselves, our family and friends. And we will hear about the technology now widely available to help if vision declines because of eye conditions, age-related factors, or injury.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions and chat over drinks and canapes, after the main session. We hope that everyone will leave with some actions that could help improve their vision and general health.
