Training & Qualifications for Optical Practice Support Staff:
Optical Practice Support
Level 3
Qualification
The Level 3 Certificate in Optical Practice Support (L3OPS) helps those wanting to build on their existing abilities and expand their knowledge further. It is ideal for senior assistants and supervisors and can be the next step towards becoming a dispensing optician or optometrist.
It is a step up from Level 2 and it is helpful if those taking the L3OPS have passed the Level 2 Certificate, although this is not a requirement.

Passing the examination
To pass the examination, a candidate must achieve a minimum of 50% in each unit of every paper.
Candidates will only be able to retake a unit three times, and only within three years of their first sitting for the examination. Those who have still not achieved a pass by that stage will be required to re-sit the whole examination.
