APPRENTICESHIPS |

The Learning & Skills Council (LSC), together with the Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technology Alliance (SEMTA) and the Optical Industry, have agreed frameworks for Modern Apprenticeships for Optical Manufacturing Technicians and Optical Assistants/Practice Support Staff. The Apprenticeship Framework will require employees to undertake an NVQ (Competence in the workplace), a written examination (Underpinning knowledge) and three Level 1 Key Skills. There are two alternative journeys to achieve an Apprenticeship. |

Substantial government funding support is expected to be available, as with other Apprenticeships in England and Wales. |
