LEVEL 4 CERTIFICATE for OPTICAL TECHNICIANS'
CORRESPONDENCE COURSE

UK/EU and International

No educational requirements for course enrolment, but applicants should have been employed in the industry or a workshop for at least two years. The Course Tutors, via correspondence, take candidates through a weekly paper. Candidates will need to make their own arrangements for practical work..

Courses commences September of each year and
January when sufficient demand exists.

The examinations are:

Part I After the first year of the Course, the Part I examination comprises 2 written papers: Mathematics, Optics & Ancillary Subjects and Ophthalmic Lenses & Frames.

Part II After the second year, the Part II examination comprises 2 written exam papers: Ophthalmic Lenses and Frames & Ancillary Subjects, in addition to Practical Examinations. The Part II Practicals comprise five sections: Projects/Oral/ Frames/ Lenses / Surfacing Instruction (Docket Writing).

Practical Ophthalmic Lenses 3d or 4th Edition - Jalie & Wray (£52.00)
Principles of Ophthalmic Lenses M. Jalie (£43.00)
BTEC First Mathematics for Technicians A. Greer & G.W. Taylor (£25.00)
Bennett's Ophthalmic Prescription Work 4th Edition - Ed. K. Wakefield (£50.00)
